Concept-formation is a process that permits us to take a vast amount of information and condense it down into a single symbol which can be used to convey or recall that information readily. Like in mathematics, ||||||||| can be expressed as 9 or nine |'s, the concept man can be used to refer to every man that was, that is, and will ever be with an economical, single unit.
