  • Plot summary:

John Galt spends the majority of the chapter giving the audience of what is supposed to be a speech by the President, a choice between rationality or the alternative: eventual death under the lies of petty tyrants.

Dagny resigns from her job.

Also The Comet breaks down and Eddie Willers has trouble parting with it. He doesn't want to believe that all of his hard work is over. When the passengers on the Comet are picked up Eddie refuses to part with the Comet.
